Billy Ray Patterson

On Tuesday, October 29, 2013, Billy Ray Patterson Jr. answered God's gentle call and entered onto the bosom of the Lord. Billy Ray was born August 11,1954 in Concord, North Carolina. He was the first child born to Vivian Scott Patterson Steele and Billy Ray Patterson Sr.

Billy was educated in the Cabarrus County School System. Billy Ray was a 1972 graduate of Concord High School. After high school he furthered his education by attending Central Piedmont College as a radio broadcasting major. Later in 2000 he became certified in Internet Technology from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He ended his career working in the IT department of the Billy Graham Ministries in Charlotte, NC.

As a child, Billy Ray was a member of Zion Hill A.M.E Zion Church where he served as a member of the usher Board and delivered the children's sermon evey Sunday, he also served as chairman on the Old Camp Ground Cemetery Restoration Committee. Billy Ray and his wife later joined Rock Hill A.M.E Zion Church where he faithfully served as the audio/visual technician and the Board Of Trustees. For the last years of his life, he and his family were members of New Vision Christian Worship Center where he served on the Board Of Trustees.

He leaves to charish his memory his wife, Vanessa Stowe Patterson of Concord, his mother, Vivian Scott Patterson Steele, Concord. His father, Billy Ray Patterson Sr.; Kannapolis, NC; two sons, Justin Phillips and Jayme Patterson, both of Concord;a daughter Sheree Phillips, Concord,NC;two sisters, Gracie P. Balknight, Kannapolis;Avis Steele Edmond(John) Concord, and a loving friend Mr. Darrell Means(Regina), Concord.

He also leaves to cherish his memory three uncles; Martin Scott, Chicago, Illinois; Clinton Patterson(Geraldine),Kannapolis, and Otis Patterson, New York,NY; four aunts Laura McCollough, Kannapolis,NC.; Joyce Caldwell, Concord;Alice Robinson(Herald), Concord and Carolyn Gorham, of Fayetteville,NC and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday October 5, 2013 at 3 o'clock at Barber Scotia College. Visitation will be from 1-2pm at the college. the family will be meeting at other times, 4800 Covington Drive Concord 28027.
